Chapter 4
Personal development

I’m free to choose and I’m responsible for my choices.

– Stephen R. Covey

The happiness advantage

Many believe success leads to happiness, thinking the formula is Work Hard -> Success -> Happiness.

However, the real sequence is Happiness + Positive Mindset -> Success.

Waiting to be happy limits our potential.

Find the right mentor

Ordinary bosses often lack the capacity to guide and teach effectively. It’s essential to proactively seek a mentor who aligns with your aspirations and can offer valuable insights.

Don’t wait for top executives to approach you; take the initiative to connect with potential mentors who can help you navigate your path to success.

Transcend the culturescape

We navigate through a world split into absolute truths, universally acknowledged, and relative truths—the ideas and myths passed down through generations, known as the culturescape.

Excel at discerning which aspects of the culturescape to adopt and which to challenge or disregard.

By questioning norms and taking less conventional paths, you redefine what it means to truly live.

Consciousness engineering

Consciousness engineering is akin to an operating system for the human mind, with your beliefs and worldviews acting as the hardware, and your habits and routines as the software.

Many of us operate on outdated beliefs and systems without realizing their impact.

By updating these old models with more empowering alternatives, you enhance your consciousness and pave the way for extraordinary living.

Tools to rewrite your models of reality

To challenge and potentially rewrite your models of reality, start by asking yourself two critical questions:

  1.  Is my model of reality based on absolute or relative truth?
Determine if your beliefs are universally accepted truths or interpretations shaped by cultural and personal perspectives.
  2. Does this really mean what I think it means?
Explore the accuracy and implications of your beliefs to ensure they align with reality.
